রবীন্দ্র জয়ন্তী মানেই বাঙালি মনে শারদীয়ার খুঁটি পুজোর মতো আনন্দের ধারা। রবীন্দ্র জয়ন্তী দিবস পালনের মূল উদ্দেশ্য বাঙালির মনে প্রাণে তাঁকে আরও বেশি করে জাগিয়ে তোলা। রবীন্দ্রনাথ নামটা আমাদের শিশুকাল থেকে শুনলেও যত বড় হতে থাকি, ততই আমাদের কাছে রবীন্দ্রনাথ আষ্টেপৃষ্ঠে থাকে। তাঁর রচিত ❝ জীবনস্মৃতি❞, ❝ ডাকঘর❞, ❝ পোস্টমাস্টার ❞, ❝ স্ত্রীর পত্র ❞, ❝ গোরা❞ প্রভৃতি রচনায় আমরা পেয়েছি অমূল্য সম্পদের মতো বিষয়।
রবীন্দ্রনাথ আমাদের সম্প্রীতি বজায় রাখতে শিখিয়েছিলেন। তাঁর লেখাতে জাতীয়তাবাদ স্পষ্ট ছিলো। ❝ দুই বিঘা❞ কবিতার মধ্যে দিয়ে দরিদ্র চাষিদের কথাও বলেছেন। রবীন্দ্রনাথ মানে গোটা একটা সত্তা।
